St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church, in collaboration with Officer Mark A. Garsee of the Katy Police Department’s Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), invites families to participate in Project Blue Guardian, a community safety program for individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, or other cognitive conditions. The program provides free identification bracelets that help first responders identify vulnerable individuals and reunite them safely with their families.
How Does the Bracelet Work?
The bracelet contains a small NFC (Near Field Communication) chip programmed with the person's identification and emergency contact information, including their caregiver or next of kin. If the person becomes lost, confused, or unable to communicate, first responders can scan the bracelet, contact their family, and help them return home safely. The bracelet is not a GPS tracker. It does not track anyone's location, and it requires no membership, monthly fees, or subscriptions.
