Going to Confession

Say:  In the name of the Father, the son, and the Holy Sprit (make the sign of the cross)
Bless me Father for I have sinned; this is my first confession.  
(say your sins)

Listen to the priest, then say The Act of Contrition Prayer:
Oh my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you.  I detest all my sins because of your just punishments, but most of all, because they have offended you, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve, with the help of your grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin.  Amen.

The priest will absolve and bless you (forgive your sins on behalf of Jesus)
Make the sign of the cross when he says in the name of the Father, the son, and Holy Spirit.
*before you leave, say:  “Thank-you, Father” (smile!)
*say your penance (prayers that the priest has told you to say) in the church before going home.
